Trade promotion management software: what to look for before you buy

5 min read · Remanently team

    In short

Trade promotion management software records budgets, price lists, promotions and bonuses in one place, calculates what each customer is owed and compares the cost of a campaign with its result. A good tool reflects your real terms instead of forcing every deal into one promotion type. Choose by process fit: the mechanics you use, the number of people managing it, and how turnover gets into the system. Remanently Trade Marketing starts at EUR 3,799 per year.

    What the software is for

Trade promotion management software replaces the patchwork of spreadsheets, emails and memory that most sales organizations use to run discounts and bonuses. Its job is to answer three questions with data: how much did we sell, how much did the terms cost, and was it worth it.

It is not a sales reporting tool. A sales report tells you turnover. TPM software adds the other side: the budget used, the discounts given, the free goods shipped and the bonuses owed.

    Core functions to expect

    • Budgets assigned to an organization, a region or a single customer, with a view of how much is used.
    • Price lists, both central and individual, so the customer's real price is clear.
    • Promotions: percentage and value discounts, free goods, tied to chosen customers and products.
    • Bonuses on turnover, volume or purchase mix, with thresholds.
    • Turnover data, imported or used directly, as the basis for settlement.
    • Settlement: automatic calculation of which conditions and tiers were met.
    • Reports: target fulfillment, terms triggered, cost against result.

Questions to ask before you choose

Feature lists look similar from vendor to vendor. These questions separate tools in practice.

    1. Can it model our actual terms? Bring three real agreements, including your most complicated bonus, and ask to see them entered.
    2. How does turnover arrive? If sales data must be retyped every month, the manual work only moves. Check whether Excel import or an integration covers your source.
    3. Can one condition cover several customers? Umbrella promotions and group bonuses are common in distribution and retail chains.
    4. Who counts as a user? Some vendors charge for every customer, store or distributor that takes part. Ask who is billed.
    5. Can we evaluate before launch? A profitability estimate before the money is spent prevents the worst deals.
    6. What happens when terms change mid-period? Real contracts get amended. The tool should handle that without a rebuild.

How Remanently Trade Marketing is packaged

Remanently Trade Marketing is sold in three standard scopes and an Enterprise configuration. The user count refers to people managing the process. Customers, stores, partners and distributors taking part in promotions are not automatically additional paid users.

    Roles and who benefits

The CFO gets a view of budget use and of the cost of terms next to revenue. The sales manager sees which campaigns are active, which terms each customer has met and what remains in the budget. Accounting works from calculated settlements instead of rebuilding them from emails. The operations director in a distribution or manufacturing company gets one reference for what was promised to customers, which matters when promotions create demand for products the warehouse must have ready.

That last link is why the platform view matters. A trade activity and its physical execution can run on shared data, and Remanently Trade Marketing can be combined with the warehouse and CRM areas when the process requires it.

    Where to start

Begin with where money leaks today. List how terms are created and approved, who holds the budget, what price lists exist, which bonuses you run and where turnover data comes from. That list becomes your test script for any vendor, including us.

If you are still defining the process itself, read what trade promotion management is and how it works. If bonuses are your main concern, see rebate management software. When you are ready to test on real terms, book a demo or sign up.

    Frequently asked questions

What is trade promotion management software?

It is software that holds budgets, price lists, promotions and bonuses in one system, calculates what customers are owed and compares the cost of each campaign with the result.

How is TPM software different from CRM?

CRM shows customer history and sales potential. TPM controls the cost of the terms used to realize that potential. In Remanently the two work together: CRM finds where you can sell more, Trade Marketing shows whether it pays on the proposed terms.

Do customers and distributors need paid licenses?

In Remanently Trade Marketing the user count covers people managing the process. Customers, stores, partners and distributors that take part in promotions are not automatically extra paid users.

Can I import turnover from Excel?

Yes. Excel import of turnover and price lists is part of the QUICK START scope and above.

Do I need to buy the highest package?

No. Start with the scope that matches your process. FIRST covers budgets, price lists, promotions and reports. Bonuses with thresholds arrive in QUICK START, and umbrella terms and simulations in TIME IS MONEY.

Is there an option for large organizations?

Yes. For large scale, individual processes or required integrations, Remanently prepares an Enterprise configuration with scope and users agreed individually.
