Device numbers do not tell the whole story

Accessible office equipment differs from machinery operating on a production floor. Walking, waiting for access and identifying unreadable labels also take time.

Across multiple sites, coordination matters. Parallel work can shorten the calendar schedule, but it requires more people and common rules for sharing results.

Preparation affects the pace

Current records and readable labels reduce field questions. When entries show old locations or ambiguous names, teams interrupt counting more often to investigate.

Some work can happen beforehand: cleaning the list, preparing equipment and running a trial. The resulting timetable is more likely to reflect actual conditions.

Reconciliation continues after counting

Gathering documents and approving conclusions also take time. A fast scanning result does not establish the duration of the complete inventory. A useful comparison covers the same scope and clearly identifies the stages included.
