Changing users need not require a physical return

If direct handovers are allowed, define them as a distinct process. Returning equipment to the store solely to update a record can create unnecessary work.

This still needs rules: who may transfer the item, who receives it and how the change is confirmed. The record should describe the actual movement.

Keep the unit and handover time clear

A model name is insufficient when several devices look alike. The new entry must concern the unit actually transferred, preserving its earlier history.

Check whether the return date changes and whether the new user knows the equipment's condition. Information about a missing accessory should not disappear when the user changes.

Current use does not settle every responsibility question

The record shows who is using equipment at a particular time. Entrustment terms and the handling of damage depend on the organisation's applicable arrangements rather than an app entry alone.

For a supervisor, the aim is information continuity without unnecessary equipment journeys. Tools Management organises issues and returns; direct handover should be agreed as part of the team's real operating process.
