Why does the equipment structure matter?

Individual components have their own identifiers, documents and replacement histories. If every event is recorded only against the line name, it becomes difficult to establish which device was repaired or transferred.

Linking components to a parent record preserves the overall view while keeping individual units identifiable.

Technical description and financial treatment

Not every component needs to become a separate fixed asset. The appropriate people determine that treatment. An operational register can retain relationships needed to use and check the equipment.

The structure should reflect the actual installation. An invoice description does not necessarily explain every connection.

History when the configuration changes

Replacing a component changes the physical line. Connecting the previous and replacement units supports later identification on the shop floor and document review. This helps inventory, service work and agreement between technical and finance teams.
