Begin with the applicable rule
Identify participants, products, period and calculation method. Where scope changed, establish which version applies to particular transactions.
Retain supporting documentation. A campaign name alone does not describe every condition and exception affecting the outcome.
Show inputs and stages
Turnover, quantities, adjustments and conversions need identifiable sources. Multiple thresholds or conditions benefit from visible intermediate bases rather than one final figure.
Unmatched or excluded records should remain visible. The reviewer must understand what was actually included in the calculation.
Preserve a defined result version
When new data arrives, identify what changed and why. Overwriting an earlier amount makes comparison with information previously sent to the customer harder.
For accounting and analytics, independent reproduction from the same data is a useful test. Trade Marketing connects terms and calculations. Reliability improves when the result remains linked to its precise scope instead of becoming an isolated total, and when another reviewer can distinguish a data update from an actual change to the agreed rule.
