Separate data from expectations
Known prices, costs and agreed terms have a different basis from forecast volume. Identify which inputs come from records and which are planning assumptions.
Do not imply precision where uncertainty exists. Several justified scenarios are more useful than one number presented as a certain future outcome.
Test calculation turning points
Thresholds, free goods and additional terms can make costs uneven. Scenarios immediately below and above important levels help reveal the effect.
Review product mix too. The same turnover can arise from a different basket, with different costs or qualifying conditions.
Retain the decision basis
After launch, compare actual results using the same definitions. If scope changed, show it rather than attributing every difference to forecast quality.

Its usefulness depends on understanding which assumptions drive the outcome and what remains uncertain, including whether the chosen scenario represents an estimate or a confirmed commercial obligation.
