Start with the relationship's current position
Identify current contacts, cooperation scope and open issues. A complete email export cannot replace a short explanation of what was agreed and what needs to happen now.
Include relationship-sensitive matters such as unresolved complaints, outstanding promises and constraints the customer has already explained.
Check tasks and ownership
Transferring an account does not automatically settle every action owner. Establish who prepares the proposal, answers questions and follows up earlier commitments.
If some work remains with the previous owner or another department, make that visible. Otherwise, the customer may receive two independent answers or none.
Review the facts before the first conversation
Purchase history helps compare the actual relationship with recent notes. Confirm the nearest next step rather than asking the customer to reconstruct everything.
For a sales manager, continuity during cover is a useful test. CRM retains organisational knowledge when agreements are connected with the account and tasks. Changing the owner's name alone does not complete the handover.
