Define the handover event

Retain product, quantity, batch and purpose where the process requires it. This connects inventory movement with a job or receiving location.

Be clear what confirmation means. Collection into a preparation area is not necessarily consumption in a particular operation.

Do not assume information the warehouse does not collect

Work-in-progress tracking needs further process events. Passing an identification point may show presence without confirming completed work or its outcome.

Where that history is required, establish additional sources and their connection with the material or carrier. Labelling an object alone does not define a production event.

Define unused material returns

Material can return from the floor, change form or enter another use. Each needs an understandable record rather than treating the whole issue as presumed consumption.

For a plant director, clear responsibility between systems and people matters. WMS handles stock and warehouse movement. Further integration is useful when the team knows which events add reliable knowledge about the actual production process.
