Why do the lists not have to be identical?
IT focuses on devices and users, administration on locations and handovers, and accounting on financial treatment. Record counts can differ, particularly for sets and third-party equipment.
A shared view does not require removing those differences. It requires knowing which records describe the same item and where each piece of information comes from.
What does connecting registers provide?
Linked identifiers let people move from a financial entry to the equipment's location and supporting documents. This helps investigate an unconfirmed item, check resources before buying or prepare an employee's return list.
Updates matter as much as identifiers. If a user change reaches only one department, the discrepancy soon returns. Information needs to move after handovers, repairs and retirement.
A shared operational reference
An EAM register can provide an accessible operational record connected to other systems. Departments retain their own responsibilities while referring to the same physical unit. The answer is then less dependent on whom somebody happens to ask.
