Define the identified object

A code or tag may refer to the pallet, a handling unit or a product. Before starting, establish exactly what the identifier represents.

For reusable carriers, the marking should not be treated as permanent information about every subsequent load. The relationship with current contents must be updated.

Record partial-pick changes

Removing cartons, adding products or repacking can change quantity and composition. Without a record, the next pallet read retrieves earlier data despite a different physical load.

Batch and units matter too. Total weight or package count may be insufficient to establish the correct product.

Test the whole sequence

Create a load, remove part of it and identify the carrier again. Compare the result with the real contents rather than only with the earlier list.

For a supervisor, operators must understand what they have confirmed. WMS connects identity and movement history. A pallet read helps when contents follow physical work, rather than remaining an unchanged declaration from the first receipt. This distinction also matters when the same carrier is emptied and reused for another delivery.
