What helps identify equipment belonging to someone else?

The owner, identifying marks and the reason for its presence. Sometimes the equipment remains under the contractor's control; sometimes it is made available for the company to use. These situations need a clear distinction.

If an internal label is applied, linking it to the owner's number makes later collection easier.

Why does this matter during inventory?

A device found outside the prepared list could be mistaken for an additional company-owned asset. Accessible information about its origin allows its presence to be explained without creating an unnecessary record.

It also helps with questions about transport, repair or a change of location.

The end of the engagement should leave a record

Confirmation of collection and the retained history establish when the equipment left the premises. The list of devices present stays current, and an earlier visit does not raise fresh questions during later checks.

Accounting teams benefit from recording the owner separately from the user. A device being present on the company's premises is not enough to establish that it belongs to the company.
