Why is a confirmation mark not enough?

A broken printer, an unused projector and a working monitor have different practical meanings. A shared status saying present does not show what is available for the next request.

The count can collect these observations if they are within its agreed scope. They do not replace a technical inspection or a decision about the asset's value.

How can the extra information be used?

A damage observation can reach the repair custodian, while information about unused equipment can reach the person coordinating resources. The finding then leads to an action.

An observation should remain distinguishable from a confirmed assessment. The counting employee may not know why a device fails, but can report that it needs examination.

A benefit for purchase planning

Knowing about unused assets makes it possible to consider transferring or preparing existing equipment. It does not automatically rule out a new purchase. It provides a fuller basis for the decision than an ownership list alone.
